Intel shows off hybrid Ultrabooks

Windows 8 needs a tablet and laptop in one

Intel has chosen its Intel Developer Forum in Beijing to show off some hybrid tablet laptop Ultrabooks.

Among the device shown running Windows 8 was a device called the Letexo, according to ZDNet. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga also made an appearance along with intriguing Nikiski.

The Letexo works in a similar way to the Asus Eee Pad Slider. It's a tablet with a large laptop sized touchscreen but has a hidden keyboard which folds out via a clever mechanism. (See also: What is an Ultrabook?)

Here are a couple of pictures of the Letexo doing its thing.

The white Nikiski laptop has a strange glass window below the keyboard which we assume is touch sensitive. When the device is closed Windows 8 pops up through this window - magic.

Below is a brief highlights video which Intel has put together of the event.
