UK iPad prices announced

Apple iPad from £429 from May 28, 2010

Apple has finally announced UK prices and an on-sale date for its much-trumpeted iPad tablet. Customers can pre-order the Wi-Fi and 3G iPads from Monday May 10, for availability on May 28. Prices start at £429, including VAT.

Apple proclaims on its website that the iPad is a “magical and revolutionary product at an unbelievable price”.

The iPad will also be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland on Friday 28 May 2010.

Apple iPad has a suggested retail price of £429 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, £499 for 32GB, and £599 for 64GB.

Apple iPad UK prices

3G models cost from £529 for the 16GB model, £599 for 32GB and £699 for 64GB. All prices include VAT. Apple has added a £100 premium for the addition of 3G functionality.

US prices do not include sales tax, which differ by location. Removing UK VAT to properly compare the UK and US prices shows a maximum difference of £34 (on the 64GB Wi-Fi-only iPad) and as little as £17 (on the 32GB Wi-Fi-only model).
