Asustek's next generation Eee PC will feature a multi-touch trackpad in addition to the larger screen, better webcam and increased data storage, a company representative has revealed.
Eee PC 900 with 8.9in screen to cost £315
The Eee PC 900 boasts an 8.9in screen, larger than the 7in display on the original Eee PC 701 model, along with a 1.3-megapixel camera and a 12GB solid-state disk drive (SSD). The webcam on the Eee PC 701 is only 0.3-megapixels and the largest SSD is 8GB.
The Eee PC 900's oversized touchpad works in a similar way to the touchpad on Apple's MacBook Air. Using two fingers, a person can zoom in and out of documents and photos, scroll up and down, and more, an Asustek representative said.
Frist generation Eee PC review
A few things the Eee PC 900 will not have include a touchscreen and GPS (global positioning system), the Asustek representative said, despite some news reports to the contrary.

Eee PC
The Eee PC 900 will come pre-loaded with either Microsoft Windows XP or Linux OSs, the representative said.
The first devices will likely hit some markets by June this year. Pricing will vary by country, but in Europe, the new Eee PC will cost around €399 (£315).

Bstard said: Its the same size The screen is only 15 inches wider than the original and Asus have simply used up half of the 15 inches that was dead ground on either side of the screen Its a big improvement
PurplePenny said: If the screen is nearly two inches bigger then presumably the EeePC itself is also bigger Thats daft since a lot of the appeal of the original was that it was so small
