Sony launches VAIO AR60 laptop line

New laptops feature Core 2 Duo T8300

Sony has added a new line of 17in and 15in VAIO laptops featuring Intel's latest generation of Core 2 Duo processors.

The Sony VAIO AR60 series, which Sony says was the first ever notebook to boast an integrated Blu-ray Disc drive, now has an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor at its heart (model VGN-AR61ZU). It also features 4GB of RAM, nVidia's GeForce 8600M GT graphics chip with 512MB of RAM, a 17in X-black screen with a 1,920-x-1,200 resolution and two lamps. For fun outside of work, the laptop has a DVB-T digital tuner and an HDMI output for connecting TVs.

The FZ30-Series now combines 4GB SDRAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor. Lightweight but very strong magnesium alloy construction means it looks like a standard footprint A4 notebook, but opens up to reveal an 'oversize' 15.4in WXGA screen.

The screen combines the latest generation of X-black LCD enhancement with double lamp technology and capable of what Sony calls "90 percent colour fidelity." This laptop also features a Blu-ray Disc drive and an HDMI output.
