Mesh launches Edge laptop line

UK PC maker ditches Asus & MSI laptops

UK PC maker Mesh Computers has launched its own laptop brand, with the new Edge line-up ranging from a 10in netbook to an 18.4in high-definition power laptop.

Mesh, which has until now concentrated on desktop PCs, previously sold laptops from the likes of Asus and MSI but will now focus entirely on the Edge line.

Mesh Edge laptop"Asus has been a key partner for Mesh for almost two decades and will continue to supply us with top quality components," said Mesh's sales and marketing director Tony Riccardi. "However, where Asus chooses to compete against its own customers in the systems market, then we have to consider alternatives."

Mesh's Edge 10 netbook, which costs £299, includes standard mini laptop components such as Intel's Atom processor, 1GB or 2GB or RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP.

Pricing for the standard laptop line starts at just £599 for the Mesh Edge E640, rising to £1,999 for the Mesh Q900 Xtreme with GTX280 graphics, Blu-Ray drive and 18.4in screen.

"As soon as we cut the old brands and pushed the Mesh Edge range into the market, we not only saw a significant jump in sales - but average selling prices have also increased by more than 30%," added Riccardi.
