£219 Asus Eee PC coming to the UK

November release for low-cost laptop

Asus has announced that the highly anticipated Eee PC is coming to the UK next month.

The Eee PC strikes a balance between UMPC and laptop and weighs only 0.92kg. After going on sale in Taiwan last week for £125, it sold out pretty much immediately.

The version of the Eee PC that's to launch in the UK on 5 November will be known by the model name P701. The £219 machine is particularly well suited to kids and has a 7in widescreen display.

Featuring an Intel CPU and chipset it runs Linux, but is also Windows XP compatible. It also boasts 512MB RAM memory, 4GB hard drive storage capacity and built-in card reader, camera, speakers and microphone. The notebook has a solid state hard drive - which therefore contains no moving parts - and comes with built-in Wi-Fi compatibility and software pre-installed.

See pictures of the Eee PC here and check back for the full review.
