Yahoo has announced that former Viacom CEO Frank J. Biondi Jr. and former Nextel CEO John H. Chapple will be joining its board of directors.

Both candidates were chosen from a list hand-drawn by billionaire investor Carl Icahn. Icahan, who own almost five percent of Yahoo's stock, had originally threatened to oust Yahoo's board and CEO Jerry Yang, after Microsoft abandoned its three-month attempt to acquire the search engine.

However, shortly before the annual meeting on August 1, Icahn agreed to drop his proxy fight in exchange for Yahoo offering him and two others of his choice a seat on the board.
