A UK woman is offering eBay users the chance to choose her name.

Eileen De Bont from Denbighshire, has picked up 50 potential new names for herself including Marge Simpson, Pudsey Bear and Scunthorpe Travelodge. She is offering the highest bidder in an online auction the chance to choose her new name, which she will then register by deed poll for one year.

The auction has already attracted 12 bids, with the £1,000 bid by the UK Deed Service currently top.

De Bont has said that the money will be split between the BBC's Children In Need and herself. She said she will be using her half towards Christmas presents for her children. "Everyone thinks I'm really wacky for doing this, especially my kids. It's not just exclusive to these 50 names. If a business wants a walking advert for a year I'm willing to change my name to their company's," she told The Telegraph.

"It's all very silly but I'm deadly serious about changing it. I'll even call myself Scunthorpe Travelodge if it's the winning bid, so watch out Paris Hilton."
