The channel will include links to candidates’ own MySpace pages and feature pictures, video clips, voter registration tools and related political material. There are also plans to include find-raising tools in the coming weeks. So far, five Republicans and five Democrats have signed up to be featured on the site and influence the MySpace audience’s vote.
Hilary Clinton's page on the channel had 359 friends at launch compared to candidate Barack Obama's page, which had over 66,000 friends. The campaign marks the start of a series of offline and online campaigns that will continue throughout the 2008 election.
Those visiting the Impact channel will be able to contribute directly to the campaign through the MySpace platform and add candidates to their own MySpace list of friends.
