Google's annual Zeitgeist report has revealed that Apple's iPhone was hotter property than Facebook in terms of web searches during 2007.

Zeitgeist 2007 shows that Apple successfully achieved world-class awareness of the existence of its first mobile phone, with 'iPhone' the fastest-rising search term for 2007 internationally and in the US. Facebook took third spot globally, while YouTube (6th) and Second Life (8th) were also in the top ten.

In compiling the 2007 Year-End Zeitgeist, Google studied the aggregation of billions of search queries people conducted on its service. The company states that no individual searcher's information was made available to it. Except where noted, all of these search terms are most popular for Google.com, in the US.
