Google is dumping the Froogle brand, renaming the product search tool as Google Product Search to make its function clearer to visitors.
The service provides a search engine to help users find goods and compare prices across various online retailers. On the Official Google Blog Marissa Mayer, vice president of search and user experience at Google, and Jeff Bartelma, product manager of Google Product Search, said the change in name was made to avoid confusion.
“We’re taking the opportunity to refocus the user experience on providing the most comprehensive, relevant results in a clean, simple, easy-to-use user interface,” they said.
There have been no changes made to the variety of items users can find and the company hopes the update will make finding whatever you want to buy much easier. The new, simplified interface is also designed to make it easier and more secure to buy items using Google Checkout.
