Human rights organisation Amnesty International is harnessing the power of popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter in a campaign about domestic violence.

Amnesty International aims to raise awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence and the inadequate provision of social service for those who have been affected. The 1:10 campaign asks supporters to update their Facebook, Twitter or other social networking status at 1.10pm today to detail the campaign message that:

"Each year, 1 in 10 women in Britain experience rape or other violence http://www.oneten.org.uk"

Supporters are also being asked to change their avatar or profile picture to that of the campaign logo or that of Amnesty International.
