BT wins in Vonage VoIP ad dispute

Advertising Standards Agency backs BT

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has upheld eight complaints over newspaper adverts promoting VoIP firm Vonage’s telephony prices.

BT complained to the ASA over a Vonage advert claiming customers could make huge savings by switching to its internet telephony service. The ad showed a table comparing Vonage's costs per year with Telewest, BT and NTL.

However, the ASA has upheld eight out of the nine points disputed by BT. "We advised Vonage to amend the claims with the help of the Copy Advice team," said the ASA.

The full adjudication is here.
