YouTube to promote French broadcaster

Google in talks over site’s European growth

France Televisions, France’s public broadcaster, is in talks with Google’s YouTube video-sharing site about plans to push its content online.

If the plans go ahead YouTube will offer France Televisions’ programmes, with dedicated channels offering previews of its shows launching on the site.

Camille Pascal, deputy chief executive officer in charge of development, said the French broadcaster wants to establish itself in Europe, using YouTube as a promotional tool for showing clips.

French newspaper, Les Echos, reported that Google will announce the French launch on 19 June. The paper also said that Google has been in contact with other French television channels.
