High standards for new websites

The Top Ten .hk Website Competition this year received more than 300 entries and the overall performance was also better than last year. More than 80 percent of the government websites have incorporated "accessibility" elements to address specific demands of the public.

Daniel Lai, Government Chief Information Officer of Hong Kong, finds the winners of this year's competition to have set a very high standard in the development of their '.hk' websites.

"Through the competition, we are very encouraged to see how different sectors in the community have developed innovative and creative domain names and websites to enhance and market their products and services," said Lai, who attended the event as guest of honour.

All the entries at the 2012 "Top 10 .hk Website Competition" were valuated according to four judging criteria -- overall design and functionality, engagement, use of social media and Web accessibility.

Winners of this event are asked to share their success stories with the community.
