Health watchdog goes to G-Cloud for hosting support

The chosen provider, Ixis, specialises in Drupal open source content management

The Care Quality Commission has awarded a hosting and support services contract to Ixis via the G-Cloud procurement platform.

Warrington-based Ixis, which specialises in Drupal open source content management, was recently added to the G-Cloud II list of approved suppliers for platform as a service (Paas), software as a service (Saas) and specialist cloud services.

Henry Cook, programme director for business improvement and head of digital communications at the health watchdog, said: "The Care Quality Commission believes the G-Cloud framework is a valuable tool, and we're really pleased to have sourced and procured the web management services we require from it.

"This project is crucial as we expand our online presence and it will enable us to be much more responsive as we develop customer facing services."

Ixis also recently secured a contract with the British Council via the G-Cloud procurement framework.

The government recently launched the third round of procurement for the G-Cloud. Read Computerworld UK's analysis of whether or not the framework is getting better with age.
