Australian events-based social media platform, Jedo, has been granted integration with Facebook, which will assist it in growing its brand, promoting events and selling tickets at no cost.
Once a Facebook user joins Jedo, purchases a ticket, recommends or creates an event, or comments on Jedo, the activity will automatically appear in both their own and their friends' Facebook news feeds, alongside a link to the event listing. Users will also be able to create and share lists of events.
"In the same way as Facebook users can see what music their friends are listening to on Spotify and get music recommendations in their news feed, people can now share and discover Jedo events via Facebook," Jedo founder and CEO, Anneliese Urquhart, said.
For event organisers, the automated integration provides a way of promoting events through the largest social media network at no cost as part of the Jedo service.
Despite the fact that Jedo is looking to attract users to its own network, it states on its website:
"We're not proposing that you stop using Facebook. Facebook Pages and Events are a great way to communicate with existing fans of your business, but do little to find and convert new fans.
Jedo works alongside Facebook to increase new sales and conversion rates. Knowing that someone from your network or friends group is attending an event is a stronger driver for ticket sales than any other marketing, and Jedo helps you spread the word through your fans' networks.
The integration is the latest step in Jedo's growth plans, followings its recent partnership with local events and entertainment companies.
