Amazon Web Services goes live in Sydney

Cloud giant, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has gone live with its first Australian datacentre, based in Sydney.

AWS revealed it had more than 10,000 customers across Australia and New Zealand including Commonwealth Bank and MYOB. The datacentre will provide customers with access to services including EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon CloudFront and S3.

Some of its partners include ASG, Bulletproof Networks, Fronde, Industrie IT, The Frame Group, Melbourne IT, SMS IT and Sourced Group.

The company already has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and will be adding a technical support leg next year.

AWS is the cloud computing arm of Amazon.com.
