Facebook rolls out Timeline to all users

Social network first annouced feature in September

Facebook is making its Timeline feature available to all of its members.

The feature, which was first announced in September alongside the introduction of music-streaming apps from a number of firms including Spotify, is designed to collect all a user's best moments in one place so they can be shared easily.

"Timeline gives you an easy way to rediscover the things you shared, and collect your most important moments. It also lets you share new experiences, like the music you listen to or the miles you run," Facebook said in a blog.

Facebook members will see a notification at the top of their profile to alert them they can upgrade to the service. Alternatively, they visit Facebook's dedicated Timeline page and press the Get Timeline button to start the process themselves.

It's worth noting that once you upgrade to Timelime you have seven days to edit your timeline before it becomes viable to others (in the mean time they will be able to see your existing profile). If you don't press the Publish now button, Facebook will automatically set it live once the seven days are up.

Facebook initially made the feature available to users in New Zealand last week.

"Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance. We'll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future," the social network said at the time," the social network said in a blog.

The social network also said Timeline will be available on mobile phones through Facebook's Android app and its dedicated mobile site. However, there was no word on when iPhone owners would be able to access Timeline from the dedicated app on their device.

Facebook has begun rolling its Timeline feature out to all of its members.
