Farmville in Danger, Hackers Plan to Attack Facebook

A video allegedly from hacker group Anonymous reveals the group's plans to bring down Facebook. But is it just a hoax?

In this video, allegedly from the hacker group Anonymous (the group made infamous in gaming circles for the involvement in the recent Sony hacks), a group reveals their plans to take down Facebook on November 5.

But your Farmville citizens aren't in danger just yet; security expert Eugene Kapersky said on Twitter, "The news around #Anonymous to attack #Facebook on Nov 5 most probably is fake[...]Interestingly the news first appeared weeks ago but gained popularity just yesterday."

It's cocky (and dumb) enough that the group reveals the exact day they plan to attack, but taking on a site like Facebook is far different than hitting sites like Sony or the government with a denial of service attack. After all, Facebook is made to take in traffic by the millions.

But nobody says it better than XKCD in this comic.
