Remember Myspace? It was a bit like Facebook, back in the day, but nobody made a movie about it. The company, which was bought by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. in 2005 for the hefty price tag of $580 million, has now been sold off to advertising network Specific Media for just about 16 percent of its previous value. The deal did not include Tom.

By now you've probably heard of Google's new social networking push, Google+. If it looks a little bit more user-friendly than previous Google ventures, you can thank none other than Andy Hertzfeld, the former Apple employee who helped develop the original Macintosh OS. Hertzfeld has been a Google employee since 2005, but this is apparently his first opportunity to really cut loose. I guess that would explain why my first Google+ friend is Clarus the dogcow.

Speaking of Google+, it looks like iOS users won't be left out in the cold. According to Google's site, a native iOS client will be coming "soon," though further questions go unanswered. How soon? Will it have access to all of Google+'s features? Do I really need another social network? Where did I put my car keys? Does this shirt make me look fat? Come on, Google: What are you hiding?
