The Twitter account promises "official App Store tweets including our featured apps, exclusive offers, and more". At the time of writing, it had already gained more than 76,000 followers.
You can also follow the #appstore hashtag to access the tweets and see what other people are saying about them.
Each of the AppStore tweets contains a link to a preview page with more information about the App.
Apple integrated its own social-networking project Ping with Twitter in November last year.
The App Store also has a Facebook page that has been 'liked' just under 950,000 times.
Microsoft is currently attempting to fight Apple's trademark on 'App Store', arguing that the name is generic and any company should be able to use it.
