TalkTalk unveils fibre broadband package

Get up to 40Mbps thanks to FTTC technology

TalkTalk has unveiled its first fibre broadband package that will offer speeds of 'up to' 40Mbps.

According to the ISP, the Fibre Optic Boost package is designed to appeal to web users that frequently take part in bandwidth-heavy activities, such as streaming HD content from BBC iPlayer and other video sites such as YouTube, or playing games online.

"We are seeing increasing demand for superfast broadband, and our Fibre Optic Boost is a great way to ensure seamless connectivity and high upload and download speeds," said Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk.

"This boost is ideal for a wide range of customers, such as families who all want to be online at the same time, people wanting to stream HD content, or gamers needing lightning-quick response times. "

The ISP said the installation process was simple and straightforward, and all Brits need is a new router and modem, which will be fitted by a TalkTalk engineer. The service uses fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) and then copper cables from the cabinet to the user's home.

TalkTalk is current rolling out the service and Brits can find out if it's available in their area but entering their postcode and phone number into TalkTalk's dedicated webpage. Pricing is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
