Archos unveils Android tablets from £99

Five new models launched

Archos has launched five new internet tablets that run Google's Android operating system, with prices starting at £99.

The Archos 28 is an MP3 and video player that also offers web browsing and email capabilities. Available in 4GB or 8GB capacities, with prices at £99 or £109 respectively, the device features a 2.8in 320 x 240 touchscreen and is powered by an 800MHz Cortex A8 processor.

Meanwhile, the £199 4.3in Archos 43, the Archos 70 and the Archos 101 internet tablets are powered by a 1GHz processor and offer HD 720p video playback, as well as the ability to tether a mobile phone with a 3G connection via USB or Bluetooth.

The devices also support Adobe Flash Player 10.1, offer Wi-Fi connectivity and come with a stand, which makes viewing videos on the tablet much easier.

An HDMI output means the tablet can be connected to an HD display, while users will also benefit from an accelerometer and 3D graphics.

The Archos 101 is just 12mm thick, weighs 480g and comes with a 10.1in touchscreen. It also features a built-in webcam, just like the 7.1in Archos 70, and allows users to make video calls to family and friends when tethered to a mobile phone with a 3G connection.

Finally, Archos is also offering the Archos 32 – an internet tablet with a 3.2in touchscreen and 8GB of storage for £129.

The Archos 70, which comes with either 8GB of storage for £229 or 250GB for £269 and the Archos 101, available in 8GB or 16GB capacities and priced at £269 or £229 respectively, will both be available from October.
