Vodafone launches Mobile Wi-Fi router

Turn 3G connection into Wi-Fi hotspot

Vodafone has launched a Mobile Wi-Fi router which turns a 3G connection into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The mobile network is following in the footsteps of 3, which launched a similar device last year.

Just like 3's MiFi, the Mobile Wi-Fi is manufactured by Huawei. Measuring 90x60x12mm and weighing 90, the battery-powered Mobile Wi-Fi lets up to five different devices connect to the net via one 3G connection.

It can be recharged via its USB port, and Vodafone claims one charge offers 100 hours of standby time or four hours of use. It supports HSDPA connections up to 7.2Mbps and HSUPA connections up to 5.76Mbps.

The Mobile Wi-Fi is available on mobile broadband contracts from the network, with data allowances ranging from 3GB to 5GB per month. The contracts cost between £15 and £25 per month.
