Google Maps now offers property listings

Search engine teams up with estate agents

Google has joined forces with a number of UK estate agents to allow users of Google Maps to search for property for sale or rent.

Users simply search for a postcode or location in Google Maps and then select properties from the 'More' list to see all the listings in that area from the estate agents that are taking part. Locations are marked on the map by a small red circle.

Users can also refine the search by selecting the type of property they're looking for, the number of bedrooms, the number of bathrooms and the price.

Clicking on the marker will provide more information about the listing, as well as the contact details of estate agent and a link to the agent's website.

"Given the importance of location to a home search, we've made it easy for home buyers and renters to see listings that match their criteria on Google Maps even as they pan and zoom the map to different areas," says Andrew Foster, product manager, Google.

"We know that many UK home buyers are already using Google Maps in their house-hunting, and by adding property listings to the map we're putting everything together for them in one place."

Zoopla, SmartNewHomes, Spicer Haart and Countrywide are among the estate agents that have signed up to put their listings on Google Maps.
