Apple iPad unboxed on video by Stephen Fry

Comedian provides first feedback on Mac tablet

Comedian Stephen Fry has become one of the first people to get their hands on Apple's iPad, and he's posted a short video of the unboxing ceremony on YouTube (watch the video below).

The iPad is due to be released in the US this weekend but isn't expected to hit the UK until the end of April. However, Fry, a confirmed Apple fan who purchased the second Mac ever shipped into the UK, is currently in the US and has been given a headstart on Brits keen to try out the product.

Fry isn't blinkered about Apple products; in September 2007 he slammed Apple's original iPhone for only supporting server-side applications, predicting that closed environments aren't the future for the technology industry.

So potential iPad buyers will be watching his feedback on the tablet on Twitter with interest.

The early signs are good, at least on the iPad applications Fry's been playing with. He said the Gray Wolfram Periodic table was "gorgeous" and "alone worth iPad," and has posted screenshots of other applications, including Scrabble and SketchBook Pro.
