Google Chrome Mac beta to leave out key features

Mac web browser expected by end of the year

Google Chrome for Mac will be missing several features when it arrives as a beta in the next few weeks, according to TechCrunch, with Google rushing out the web browser to meet a self-imposed end-of-year deadline.

Mac users will be able browse the web with Chrome, but tools such as Google Gears and App Mode will be missing. Google Gears allows Gmail and Google Docs users to access emails and files stored on the online services even when they don't have a internet connection, while App Mode lets you create standalone, single-site web browsers.

Mac users who can't wait to get their hands on the beta can take a sneak preview at the web browser by heading over to the Chromium Project to try out the pre-beta development versions.
