Twitter to get 'video tweet' function

Users able to post videos from mobiles and laptops

Twitter is thought to be getting ready to give users of the micro-blogging service the ability to post video-tweets to the site.

Twitter's founders are thought to be in discussions about the service, that would let users upload short videos taken on mobile phones or laptops. However, how successful the facility would be will remain to be seen.

There are currently two similar services available, Twiddeo and Tweetube, which allow users tom post links to video clips. However they are not as popular as Twitpic that enables Twitters to tweet links to photos of themselves.

The news comes after it was revealed that UK Xbox 360 users will be able to access to both Twitter and Facebook through its Live platform.

The integration of the two social networks with the Xbox platform will mean Xbox players with a LIVE Gold subscription will be able to invite Facebook friends to play games with them, while also tweeting during play.
