Yahoo add mailbox functions to webmail offering

Tweaks let users drag and drop pics into emails

Yahoo has introduced a number of new functions to its webmail service, which it says ensures web users can do more without leaving their mailboxes.

As well as a new streamlined look, which reflects the recent changes made to the Yahoo home page, Yahoo mail users will be able to drag and drop images up to 25MB from their desktop straight into an email in preparation to share with friends and family.

The new-look email also ensures that messages from your most important contacts float at the top of your inbox, so you don't have to trawl through your entire collection of emails to locate an important message.

Yahoo said that next month users will also be given a gallery of apps that among other things will allow them to share their Flick photos via email and share large files up to 100MB via ZumoDrive.

"Yahoo! Mail's new features bring together the things that are important to you - like friends, news, mail, chat and photos - in the easiest way possible," said David McDowell, director of communications products for Yahoo! Europe.
