Free Facebook surfing for Vodafone users

3G broadband & phone customers will benefit

Vodafone is offering its customers free access to social networking site Facebook for one week.

Starting from tomorrow, Vodafone mobile broadband customers will be able to connect to Facebook via a PC for free, although surfing other sites will be charged at the same rate.

Their data counter will stop for the time they use and browse Facebook, but restart again when they navigate away from the site. The offer also applies to Vodafone's mobile phone customers who connect to Facebook using their handset.

The mobile network is also offering its customers the chance to receive text messages to notify them of activity on their Facebook account, such as being poked, receiving a message and status updates. Vodafone is also offering users the chance to respond to these alerts by SMS, charged at standard rate. Users must log in to Facebook's mobile site www.facebook.com/mobile and select which notifications they want to receive.
