Yahoo Glue combines video, text & images

New search results site rolled out in the US

Yahoo has rolled out a beta version of its new Glue search concept for the first time in the US.

The internet search technology aggregates text, images, and video results on a single results page.

The Glue Page Beta was first tested by Yahoo in India in May. Glue page results are displayed alongside the usual Yahoo India search results.

In the US, Yahoo Glue Beta is however being tested as a standalone experience that is not accessed via Yahoo Search, a spokeswoman for the company said.

"This iteration of the beta is centred around gathering insights about how people use topic pages focused purely on helping people discover information and browse through images, videos, articles, etc.," she added.

In a post on the Yahoo Search blog, Julie Demsey of Yahoo! Glue Product Management said that Yahoo is starting with a limited set of topics, pulling together content from the best places on the web onto one Yahoo Glue page. The company plans to add more topics later.

The pages are built using an algorithm that automatically places the most relevant modules on a page, giving users a visually rich, diverse page about the topic in which they are interested, the post added.
