Virgin: Only one speed test can handle 50Mbps

Thinkbroadband.com triumphs in ISP's trials

Thinkbroadband.com - which developed the PC Advisor Broadband Speed Check - is the only online speed test that is capable of measuring a 50Mbps internet package, says Virgin Media.

The ISP, which has recently launched a 50Mbps service, carried out a number of trials of its service with various online broadband speed testing sites. However, Virgin Media highlighted that performance and accuracy of the tests can vary greatly and only one was capable of accurately measuring the service.

Thinkbroadband.com's speed test measures the time it takes for the complete block of data to be transferred rather than displaying a peak speed. Our own speed tester has been capable of testing 50Mbps connections for some time and we have produced a video which shows it is even capable of over 250 Mbps,” says Sebastien Lahtinen, founder of thinkbroadband.com.
