HSBC lets customers bank from their BlackBerry

Check balance and seven days' worth of transactions

BlackBerry smartphone users who bank with HSBC can now view their account balance from their handset.

The free service, which can be accessed from www.m.hsbc.co.uk, is optimised for the display on handsets in RIM's BlackBerry 8000 series. It also allows users to see the past seven days' worth of transactions.

As well as their username and password, users will be required to enter a unique temporary security code. This code is generated by a handheld device supplied to the customer by HSBC.
