Microsoft launches hackers' blog

Company to open up on vulnerability testing

Microsoft has launched a new blog, 'hackers @ microsoft', that discusses the work carried out by the company to find weaknesses in its code in a bid to make its software safer.

Microsoft says it employs some of the world's best hackers to work on development, research, testing and security projects. 'White hat hackers', or ethical hackers, spend their time reviewing code and looking for vulnerabilities.

"Yes, Microsoft does have hackers, and it's time to introduce you to some of them and show you what it is, exactly they do," Microsoft's techjunkie posted on the blog.

"At his or her core, a true hacker is someone who is curious and wants to learn how systems work. This can and of course at Microsoft is done in an ethical, legal manner."
