Web users prefer mobile broadband to Wi-Fi hotspots

26% of mobile broadband surfers use O2

Web users prefer to use mobile broadband rather than Wi-Fi hotspots, says Point-Topic.

According to research by the company, mobile broadband is used to access the web by 47 percent of people, compared to 42 percent who use Wi-Fi hotpsots.

The survey also revealed that O2 was the most-used mobile broadband provider with 26 percent of all users identifying the telecommunications company as their mobile broadband provider. It was closely followed by Orange and Vodafone, each which held a 20 percent share of the mobile broadband market.

According to Point-Topic, mobile broadband may be more popular because it really does offer web on the go compared to Wi-Fi hotspots which can be difficult to find and can work out expensive compared to mobile broadband.
