According to a PC Advisor poll, the most important aspect when selecting a web browser, is speed of surfing.
PC Advisor readers were asked which aspects of a web browser are most important to them: brand, browsing speed, customisable appearance, phishing and malare protection, third-party add-ons, or tabbed browsing.
From a total of 2,152 votes, almost 30 percent (29.8%) of respondents said browsing speed is the most important aspect. More than a fifth (20.4%) said phishing and malware protection is crucial. Tabbbed browsing - now part of all major browsers such as Firefox 3.0, Internet Explorer 8.0, Opera, Safari and Google Chrome - is important to nearly one in five PC Advisor readers (18.9%).
Around one in 10 respondents find customisability in the shape of customisable appearance (11.2%) and third-party add-ons (10%) important in their choice of web browser.
Just over 4 percent of respondents (4.1%) said that they simply use the browser native to their system.
