Sony VAIO UK yesterday announced the special edition Bond Z series of laptops. Announced to coincide with the upcoming James Bond film 'Quantum Solade', only 700 Bond Z laptops will be produced.
The £2,999 Windows Vista Business Bond Z laptops weigh just less than 1.5kg, but boast an Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 CPU running at 2.5GHz, combined with 4GB DDR2 SDRAM. And for the Bond fan who has everything: each Bond Z laptop has an engraved 007 logo.
The Bond Z Sony VAIOs have a Blu-ray drive, combined with 320GB of storage, and a 13.3in WXGA screen. Draft-N Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are supported. Mobile broadband speeds of up to 7.2Mbps are possible using 3G phone networks.
Sony claims battery life of 'over 5 hours' with the Bond Z series' Stamina Mode switch.
"We feel it's a remarkable achievement to have succeeded in including a Blu-ray drive in a notebook of this size," says Chris Trewhitt, Product Manager, Sony VAIO UK.
"The combination of this drive, plus high-end processor and flash memory in a laptop weighing under 1.5kg makes this the most desirable machine Sony has ever created."
The Bond Z-Series will be available to pre-order from 7 October 2008, and in selected Sony Centres from 31 October 2008, priced at £2,999.
