There were periods in earth's history where the earth was MUCH warmer than it is now and we were not here to cause it!!!!! It is true that the US contributes 49% of the CO2 - but 49% of what. Of all the greenhouse gasses, CO2 is 3.6% of the total and man's input is 3.2% of the 3.6. Apparently, Al and Steve can't do simple math.

Actually, I'm not surprizes by Jobs' support of Gore. Jobs is a "control freak" and Gore is similarly like minded.

While Jobs created a a computer that was superior to the PC, he failed to license the product so as to allow other innovators to expand and develop the system, which would have led to a wider accessory base and lower costs. The result, Macs are less than 10% of the computing market. D'oh!

Meanwhile, regarding the 2000 presidential election, this is a question that has NEVER been answered.... If 532 votes is insufficient to legitimize the Bush presidency, how many votes would Gore have needed to legitimize his presidency?

I'm sure just 1 more Florida vote for Gore than Bush would have been sufficient to override all questions of voter fraud, intimidation or disenfranchisement. Meanwhile, the people who knew Gore best (his "home" state of Tennessee) didn't give Gore their Electoral votes.

Name a sinlge sector that wouldn't be devastated by Kyoto, particularly manufacturing. 2/3ds might be a slight exaggeration, but not by much. I am amazed at how many scientists post on this blog - there must be more climate experts in the US than I thought. Those who dont understand the past are doomed to repeat it. There is such a great track record of accurate scientific reports when lots of money is involved (i.e smoking was actually healthy in 1950) .. I guess thats why everyone believes what they read on the internet about climate change - The issue everyone should be concerned about is that we cant trust our governments to provide a totally unbiased and politically independant panel of scientists to deal with major scientific issues. Part of this is fueled by armchair geniuses who spew out the contents of the last article they read. Who knows what to believe?

As an avid Apple fan I was disturbed that Al Gore was appointed to the Apple Board. How does Al Gore reconcile his disdain for people and companies that create goods and services that produce CO2 emmissions yet accepts money from Apple which essentially produces electronic devices, which by nature have built in obscolecence at the cost of his environment? How much more CO2 emmissions have been created by powering up computers? Yesterday it was announced that in Switzerland, where a large portion of a glacier has melted, they found a silver mine, and primative tools that were used to mine it.

Kind of shows that long before SUV's and air conditioners, and Al Gore, it was warmer than it is now.

Folks were working this mine in Switzerland, and then the earth cooled down enough for a Glacier to form and last for some thousand or so years, and now it's warming up again.

what i find amazing is that you americans have managed to make global warming a political issue split along liberal and conservative lines.

america is the only country where global warming and the human causes are seriously debated. but even if you don't believe it yourself, to have the gumption to ignore the views of 99% of climatologists is pretty breathtaking- especially when potentially so much is at stake.

HE didn't lose 95% of the market. I believe that would be Michael Spindler and Gil Amelio.

And agreeing to the Kyoto protocols only makes sense. We're going to have to do it sooner or later anyway. Might as well be now before we become even more addicted to oil. Plus, oil prices in a few decades will be worse than effects from the kyoto protocols now.
