Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stated that Al Gore, an Apple board member and former US vice-president, would win the presidency if he ran for election.
"If he ran, there's no question in my mind that he would be elected," Jobs told Time magazine. "But I think there's a question in his mind, perhaps because the pain of the last election runs a lot deeper than he lets most of us see."
OPINION: APPLE ISN'T FUN ANY MORE
Gore has campaigned to persuade people to address the growing threat of climate change, which could cause environmental collapse.
"We have dug ourselves into a 20-foot hole, and we need somebody who knows how to build a ladder. Al's the guy," Jobs also told Newsweek. "Like many others, I have tried my best to convince him. So far, no luck."
Gore is known to be the Silicon Valley favourite for running for president on the Democratic ticket. Other Democratic hopefuls, Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, don't seem to have captured the level of support among America's tech-industry elite.

How can a guy as smart as Jobs back a guy as stupid as Al Gore? Al's only claim to fame since he was beat by President Bush, is poluting peoples mind with the human caused global warming scam. Perhaps Al Gore has never heard that Mars is also warming and will lose it's polar icecap. Duh!

I think Jobs has a loose screw in his brain if he thinks "Hoot" Al Gore would be elected President. Al, Hillary, and Barak should all run for president of some Island in the Pacific that only has room for their overstuffed egos.

I respect Steve in many ways, but his choice to have Al Gore on Apple's board is NOT one of them. Al Gore is a raving lunatic and should be in a straight jacket. Steve should stay out of politics or resign from Apple -- the two do not mix.

I share Al Gore's opinion not to run until the current field of democratic candidates begin to fall apart, then he may step in to rescue, otherwise America is not the same when Al left it. Many things have changed including Hillary's running and America's image and Iraq. It's more complex than before, unless the opportunity to win is overwhelming.

IS this the same Al Gore who would like to completely devastate the US economy by signing the joke that is Kyoto? Even the former first philanderer wouldn't sign Kyoto, but ol' Al doesn't mind putting 2/3d of the country on unemployment due to business and factory closures as a result of Kyoto.
Or, maybe it's the same Al Gore who fielded a film chock full of inaccuracies, lies and blatant exaggerations to scare the American people into digressing lifestyles back to the stone age while he takes a caravan of 9 SUV's 500 feet from one building to the next. Is Jobs support Michael Moore or Al Gore?

If the best the left can offer is Al Gore, then they are showing their true desperation. Apparently, none of these fear mongers have heard of the term "climate cycle". There were periods in earth's history where the earth was MUCH warmer than it is now and we were not here to cause it!!!!! It is true that the US contributes 49% of the CO2 - but 49% of what. Of all the greenhouse gasses, CO2 is 3.6% of the total and man's input is 3.2% of the 3.6. Apparently, Al and Steve can't do simple math.

Al Gore was put on Apple's board to give him the money to support his lifestyle and to paint him as the leader in a world cause. It had nothing at all to do with his ability to contribute to one of the leading companies in R&D. He has done absolutely nothing for Apple other than to demonstrate Keynote.
And where has it gotten Apple? Gore's global warming "sky is falling" crusade is falling apart. Parents are getting upset their children are being forced to watch a "documentary" they see as political and extremist. Will Apple eventually take the heat? Perhaps so.

Bush has brought this country back from the brink of bankruptcy under the clinton/gore regime.
Bush has instituted a real policy to keep muslims/arab terrorists from killing us real Americans.
Gore continues to pollute this worl with his 4 15,000 square foot homes and his fleet of gas guzzeling SUV's and his private jet charter flights. But thankfully he pays money (back to his own company) to "offset" those carbon credits. Liberals (like you) are so stupid it's not even funny. You people are scary.

These scientists have jobs and income, they don't need to lie. They could just jump on the GW bandwagon and get money from concerned citizens that have been blinded by scare tactics. There are scientists out there that claim making gold from lead, free energy (perpetual motion), etc. Why? Because a fool is born every minute. Also most scientists are ADHD(many probably don't know they are), quick to judge, are impulsive, easily emotionally bruised, are arrogant, anything out of the ordinary is to difficult and so when something like this happens and they have made a mistake, they will lie like a classic casebook adder till they are found out that they were full of bs.

Ben said on Wednesday, 23 May 2007
Actually, I'm not surprizes by Jobs' support of Gore. Jobs is a "control freak" and Gore is similarly like minded.
While Jobs created a a computer that was superior to the PC, he failed to license the product so as to allow other innovators to expand and develop the system, which would have led to a wider accessory base and lower costs. The result, Macs are less than 10% of the computing market. D'oh!
Meanwhile, regarding the 2000 presidential election, this is a question that has NEVER been answered.... If 532 votes is insufficient to legitimize the Bush presidency, how many votes would Gore have needed to legitimize his presidency?
I'm sure just 1 more Florida vote for Gore than Bush would have been sufficient to override all questions of voter fraud, intimidation or disenfranchisement. Meanwhile, the people who knew Gore best (his "home" state of Tennessee) didn't give Gore their Electoral votes.

Gore is a village idiot.
Anyone with a basic science education can see through the environmentalist hyped up political b.s. I'll bet most of the believers in the religion of global warming don't even know that water vapor is, by far, the leading contributor to the greenhouse effect. Carbon credits? Just another way to transfer wealth.

I find it humorous that every single response from the left (save for a few) are no more than attacks, no facts, nothing.
95% of climatologists do not support Gore's theory, this a blatant fallacy and its been proven time and again that legitimate climatologists who disagree with Gore (and there are far more than 5%) have had funding cut, their jobs threatened and have had their reputations tarnished and questioned.
The vast majority of the American people reside in the center, not right and certainly not left and the vast majority, while they are concerned with Global Warming (which has yet to be proven as man made - FACT!) do not support Gore's view of it.
When you get your news from DU.com or KOS you tend to be extremely misinformed. And before you go screaming FAUXNEWS or Savage or Limbaugh don't bother, I don't watch or listen to any of them. I'm a centrist and I don't subscribe to the ridiculous notions of the left or the right.

Patrick - you might want to do a little checking on Kyoto there buddy. Name a sinlge sector that wouldn't be devastated by Kyoto, particularly manufacturing. 2/3ds might be a slight exaggeration, but not by much. You'll also notice, if you bother to check, that Kyoto would impact the US negatively far more than any other nation leaving us vulnerable to the likes of China et al.
When you liberals can stick to the facts instead of your ridiculous emotion based arguements then we can actually start a rational discussion.

I'm not sure that's as much of a problem as you think. A lot of American skepticism about AGW stems from the relentless propaganda in schools during the 70's about how we were causing a new ice age by burning fossil fuels. Overreach can backfire.

Al Gore would probably make a pretty good president, I predict our relatiosn with the rest of the world would improve by a factor of 10. They are both guilty of treason.

Al Gore is the worm in the Apple. Steve Jobs needs to keep his nose out of politics, at least publicly - as his comments may alienate potential customers and hurt Apple's sales.
Al Gore would not win - his comments about this country in Africa, along with some of his other panderings should serve to scare off anyone with more than a 5th grade education.

Denouncing the leftist boilerplate diatribe of "Bush = Hitler" or "Bush administration = third reich" is not a vote of confidence in GWB, or a pronouncement of his competency.
Such comparisons are dangerous, as they greatly minimize and trivialize The Holocaust. ANYONE that can seriously make a comparison between GWB and hitler, is either ignorant, stupid, or an anti-Semite.
By the way, calling me a clown was uncalled for. It amazes me how any kind of respect or common decency is thrown out the door in these forums. The relative anonymity of the internet certainly affords one the ability to bravely name-call and talk tough.

As an avid Apple fan I was disturbed that Al Gore was appointed to the Apple Board. How does Al Gore reconcile his disdain for people and companies that create goods and services that produce CO2 emmissions yet accepts money from Apple which essentially produces electronic devices, which by nature have built in obscolecence at the cost of his environment? How much more CO2 emmissions have been created by powering up computers? He does not seem to see a conflict in flying around in Steve's Gulfstream IV preaching the use of internet conferencing rather than travelling to meetings. Steve is not a stupid man, although I am certain he believes Al Gore is. Steve is a saleman and an opportunist. If Al were to gain the White House, Jobs and Apple would have unlimited influence. If Al Gore really believed what he preached, he would be working for Green Peace not collecting milllions sitting on the Apple Board. What a hypocrite.

1) Gore DID win the election.
2) He never said he invented the internet.
3) Bush's environmental record is the worst in history.
4) Iraq NEVER had anything to do with 9/11
5) Bu$hCo is guilty of the WORST war profiteering in American history.
6) NOT ONE of the things this administration has said or done has been correct, nor for the 'people'.
All of these statements are easily confirmed FACTS. Instead of repeating what Rush or Sean said today, actually investigate something YOURSELF! It was Gore, through subsequent schemes, who tried formulating a victory in FL. Try as he might, he could not conjure it, even with foaming-at-the-mouth Carol Roberts assisting. Indeed, she and her pals finally ended the hanging-chad fiasco in Dade: Bush was picking up additional votes. (They claimed they needed more time, but it was learned the manual recount was favoring Bush.) Who tried overturning the original results, and tried to hedge the recounts? Who tried to pick and choose recount locations to include only liberal pockets? Who tried to litigate his way into office? Kind of shows that long before SUV's and air conditioners, and Al Gore, it was warmer than it is now.
Folks were working this mine in Switzerland, and then the earth cooled down enough for a Glacier to form and last for some thousand or so years, and now it's warming up again.
Also, we know that around 1200 years ago, also before SUV's, there was a mini ice age that lasted for about 500 years, and then we went through a warming period.

I doubt it is out of a sense of patriotism. Why don't people just leave the man alone? No luck yet? Do you get the message then? Or does Mr. Jobs see it in his best interests financially to push Al Gore into doing something he seems unwilling to do? I say, if you are a friend of his then allow him to live his life the way his heart tells him to. Honestly, all of this talk about him running incessantlly everyday over and over is really getting redundant and distracting from serious issues we must al face NOW. We have a climate crisis to solve and Mr. Gore IS the leader of that movement. Is APPLE truly doing anything about that?

Let's appoint Gore in 2008 like Bush was appointed in 2000 and find true peace in this world and NO MORE WARS! Save the planet. Steve Jobs is a brillant man and far more superior to all the right wingers that have posted here. He knows better. You just can't accept it.

It makes perfect sense that Jobs supports a left wing liberal such as Goregantuous. Based on the recent assesment of the war in Iraq, Democrats would like to rescind their votes for the military action all for politcal and financial gain in the way of campaign contributions. Steve Jobs prefers to backdate his stock options for financial gain. In any event each uses current information in an attempt to misrepresent the past at the expense of the public.

It's bizarre to think that one of the most polarizing figures in the history of US politics would be the one that Jobs think's would win the election with no "question in his mind." It speaks to the cocoon that some individuals exist in...it's on the level that if Bush were to somehow run again, he'd win. Gore has too many skeleton's in his closest, and he's put so much out there in terms of movies, books, speaking engagements that it'd be too easy to shoot him down with his own words.

This kind of logic makes me sick to my stomach. “Win back respect”! Who’s respect? Whose respect are we trying to get: the Islamic Third World Fascist or the cappuccino-sipping beret-wearing Frenchman in Paris who is cutting another piece of cheese and putting it on his plate of snails and frog legs?
ENOUGH!
Mr. Islamic Third World Fascist, who doesn’t like the USA, wants to kill you and me regardless of who holds the Presidency. So why try to win Mr. Islamic Third World Fascist’s respect. That is impossible. You’re better off without them.
Russ #2 said on Wednesday, 23 May 2007
Mr. cappuccino-sipping beret-wearing Frenchman in Paris, who doesn’t like the USA, also doesn’t actually want to kill you and me. He’s is just pissed off because he can’t download rank American recording industry rap music, Hollywood porn and corporate news fast enough through iTunes and on onto his MAC so he can sync the content to his IPOD or email it around the globe infecting all other cultures with it. He’s pissed because he’s already addicted to the twisted American culture but he can’t understand why. He’s controlled by it and therefore doesn’t actually want to kill it.
In comparison, Mr. Islamic Third World Fascist and other third world purists (the Proles) are really angry and want to kill Americans over this nasty culture export before it controls them too!
Russ #3 said on Wednesday, 23 May 2007
I would argue that this type of is export is far more dangerous than any notion of human caused global warming or pollution export because it upsets religious and social fabrics and gives some religious extremists a reason to kill and die while pacifying non-religious extremists to the “Western Culture = victory gin and rusty razor blades” type of control they are actually under. And I’m speaking of the left and the right in America.
We have come so far in the name of personal freedom and we have invented these interesting gadgets to export our ideas of personal freedoms which we and others have become so addicted to keeping that it’s like we see ourselves as demigods and will die for them.
But how fitting is it that, from this perspective, Jobs is helping to deliver to the world the culture control that his 1984 commercial warned us about? Al Gore is just a stupid friend of Hollywood.

Algore was wrong again...he said "trust me...I'll make the airports safer"
Five years later more than 3000 Americans died on one day.
Great job Algore.....go get em!

Blood on Algore's hands:
If a mistake, it seems highly unlikely that it could have happened again. But it did. There is more evidence to consider. On Sept. 20, one mainstream newspaper released the story of how the so-called Gore Commission failed conspicuously to address airline safety. The paper claimed that this failure "represents the clearest recent public example of the success that airlines have long had in defeating calls for more oversight." The paper traced that failure to a series of campaign donations from the airlines to the Democratic National Committee in 1996 in the wake of the crash of TWA Flight 800, donations likely solicited by Al Gore himself. That newspaper just happened to be John Kerry's hometown Boston Globe. This was a damning revelation, certainly to Al Gore. The Boston Globe was the only medium to the left of the Washington Times to have released this information, and the Times did so at least a year before the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon.

Steve Jobs is not nearly as smart as you think.
He managed to give up 95% of the PC market to Bill Gates and now we're stuck with Windows forever.
Steve Jobs is a loser just like Al Gore.
Keep pushing the green agenda, we still have a few jobs we can export to China. Soon the only Jobs left will be Steve. Makes you feel Goreophobic...

The last thing I want to see is this DSM IV cluster A/B/BLPD guy standing up there on the podium ranting and raving about the legacy of GW until the coming doomsday... my stomach is just too sensitive for that.

what i find amazing is that you americans have managed to make global warming a political issue split along liberal and conservative lines.
america is the only country where global warming and the human causes are seriously debated. but even if you don't believe it yourself, to have the gumption to ignore the views of 99% of climatologists is pretty breathtaking- especially when potentially so much is at stake.
but the reason i can safely discard the arguments put forward by american global warming deniers is that the only people denying are the ones with the most to lose. ie the people of the planet with the highest carbon footprint, and the goverment with the most ties to the oil industry.

Al Gore is simply the only answer to the absolute catastrophe that is the Bush administration. For you supporters of W, please tell me one, just one, GOOD thing that he's done for America or the World. Just one. Al Gore is a brilliant mind. Al Gore is a visionary. Al Gore is actually intellectually curious (W is the antithesis of this). Forget Clinton, Obama and maybe even Edwards. Al Gore is the answer. He can regain our respect around the planet, end this lie of a war and actually be the first person in the 8 years to man the Oval Office with an IQ over 80.

One good think PRESIDENT BUSH has done is protect this nation from another terrorist attack while foolish people with their heads in the sand have criticized him every step of the way for purely political reasons. Unemployment under 5 percent, a roaring economy despite a housing slowdown and rising gas prices. I guess that's only OK if a democrat is in office.

Also, the press conducted an independent review of the Florida 2000 vote and reported President Bush would still have won that vote....if Al Gore decides to run for President, I do not believe the Democratic party would give him the nomination, but I wish him and his family well.

HE didn't lose 95% of the market. I believe that would be Michael Spindler and Gil Amelio.
And agreeing to the Kyoto protocols only makes sense. We're going to have to do it sooner or later anyway. Might as well be now before we become even more addicted to oil. Plus, oil prices in a few decades will be worse than effects from the kyoto protocols now.

Jobs has now proven beyond a doubt that he has lost it. Prepare to dump your Apple stock during the next quarter. I believed that Apple could survive Gore's nutty stuff while on the Board, but when Jobs starts kissing up Gore's arse, gutting the next MacOS version by dragging off talented staff over to support the troubled iPhone, and playing funny a la Enron with Apple stocks and monies, we know the end is near. Stevieboy, its not too late to turn around and run away from the road of being an idiot loser. Keep your socialistic nutcase politics in your own bedroom threesome with Al and Tipper. @Choddy- Wow. You actually believe the world peace drivel? See, not every one wants to work things out. Thats why there are still muggers and rapists and murders. Notice how many wars are started by one little incident? Or heck, ever read the Koran? There seems to be ONE little part that says you are to kill the unbelievers if they do not become part of Islam. But hey, everything is the republicans fault, right? Along with the holocaust, starvation, any little thing thats bad that has ever happened?
