T-Mobile music store boosted by Last.fm

Mobile Jukebox now offers artist info

T-Mobile has joined forces with Last.fm, Wikipedia and Shazam to offer an improved music download service to its users.

Mobile Jukebox, which can be accessed via T-Mobile's Web 'n' Walk mobile internet platform, not only allows users to download tracks to their handset or PC, but now also offers biographical information, the latest artist news, track releases and event announcements.

Upon entering the Mobile Jukebox, users simply enter the names of their favourite artists to receive a list of matching and similar artists. From here, users can access the relevant artist's page and there's also a list of content available to download from T-Mobile, such as full tracks and ring tones. Users can also stream a 30-second preview of any track before downloading it.

T-Mobile says the Mobile Jukebox has over 2 million tracks and 100,000 albums available for download and offers "everything a fan would want to see about their favourite artist".

"This new way of presenting music to our customers will connect them to the artists, news and music they want whenever and wherever they want," said Gareth Williams, UK entertainment manager, T-Mobile.

"We're working hard to ensure that the Last.fm experience can be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere and this exciting partnership with T-Mobile is undoubtedly another important step towards that goal," added Martin Stiksel, Last.fm co-founder.
