It's easy enough to pop down to Smiths and buy a standard photo album, pop in your prints and show them off to your friends. Why not add a touch of style and create your own professional-looking album online?

1. Visit myphotobook.co.uk and navigate to the Products page. Choose Create my photobook. This will send you to the Free Download page. Click on the setup link for the OS you’re using and save the setup file to your Desktop. Double-click the link on the Desktop to launch the setup.

2. Follow the steps, choosing a location on your hard drive where you want to install the applet. Hit the program’s icon to launch it or tick ‘Launch myphotobook’ and click Finish. Click on the New Photobook tab to open up your first draft. Choose the size, colour, number of pages, material and binding of your book.

3. Drag photos from folders in the column on the lefthand side to each of the album’s empty pages. For further assistance, click the Help button in the top-right corner. Enter a title for your book and add captions by clicking in the text boxes. Click Save and enter a name for your photo book.

4. Try to avoid using low-quality images – any defects will be more obvious in print than on screen. Suspect images will be marked with a yellow dot. Click Order, enter your details and upload your book or send it on a CD. An account will be opened. You can log in to see your photobook, share it and order copies.
