Skype offers voicemail-to-text service

Get voicemails converted to SMS

Carrie-Ann Skinner

VoIP service Skype jas joined forces with Spinvox to offer users a voicemail-to-text service.

Using Spinvox's technology, Skype users can choose to have voicemails sent to their Skype number converted into SMS and sent to their mobile phone. The service costs 17p plus the initial cost of sending a text message.

Alternatively users can choose to receive either an SMS or email alert to notify them every time a voicemail is left on their Skype number.

"As people continue to spend more time on the move and on their mobile devices, people want to take their Skype conversations with them. SpinVox is a great option for our users to save time on checking their Skype voicemail and receive messages immediately sent to their mobile phone," said Mike Bartlett, director of product strategy at Skype.
