BullGuard launches BullGuard Internet Security 8.5

Offers improved spamfilter and rootkit detection

BullGuard today released BullGuard Internet Security 8.5, the latest version of its internet security suite.

BullGuard Internet Security 8.5 comprises antivirus, antispyware, firewall, a new spamfilter, and BullGuard's traditional backup- which includes 5GB of secure online storage.

BullGuard says its firewall has been improved to make it less of a drain on resources. There's a new spamfilter which BullGuard says offers 'comprehensive phishing protection'. BullGuard is offering round-the-clock support. A single licence can be used on up to three PCs.

Hard on the heels of Symantec's claimed five-minute updates, BullGuard's signature database will now be updated at more realistic two-hourly intervals, according to the company. Other improvements, according to BullGuard, include increased rootkit detection and web-filtering for proactive website scanning.

Existing BullGuard Internet Security users will be automatically upgraded to the 8.5 version (although they'll still have to pay to renew, of course). BullGuard Internet Security 8.5 costs £44 inc VAT for a one-year subscription.

Speaking about the launch, Theis Søndergaard, CTO and co-founder at BullGuard, said: "Unlike most of our competitors, we are 100 percent consumer focused. This means that we put all our efforts into developing a product that is best suited for home users.

"Product development for our Internet Security therefore has the following three guiding principles: to enhance security, to improve usability and to increase performance. In the 8.5 version, we have again managed to do all three."
