Britons would rather dump their old PCs than recycle them, reports new research by Fujitsu-Siemens Computers.
The research highlighted that 12.5 million unwanted but working PCs and laptops have not been reused or recycled by their owners. Of those surveyed, 5.1 million said they took their old computer to their local dump, while more than a million admitted to dumping redundant machines in household rubbish or even in the countryside.
Only one in 10 unwanted PCs were recycled through a manufacturer's recycling facility, with 40 percent of those going to a friend or charity, which Fujitsu described as a "huge missed opportunity".
