HTC details Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades

Device list includes 16 smartphones

HTC has announced which of its smartphones will receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). See also HTC One X review.

ICS has been around for a number of months and it seems that vendors are now starting to get it rolled out to devices. Google’s latest operating system debuted with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

HTC has confirmed 16 devices will get the update to ICS. In the UK these include the HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Incredible S, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Sensation XE and HTC Rhyme.

Remaining lucky devices are the Droid Incredible 2, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Evo Design 4G, HTC Sensation 4G, HTC Raider, HTC Rezound, HTC Thunderbolt and HTC Vivid.

The firm said on Facebook last month that the Sensation and Sensation XE will get the over the air (OTA) upgrade by the end of March.

HTC warned, "Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon."

Samsung yesterday confirmed that its flagship device, the Galaxy S II, will get the upgrade to ICS starting next week in the UK.
