GameStop has finished integrating their website with the online store, Impulse, which they purchased from Stardock earlier this year. Touting many of the features that consumers find on Steam, the retail giant seems to finally be taking the whole "digital distribution sales model" seriously.
But is it too little, too late? Coming off of last week's Steam Summer Sale, Impulse is holding their own two-week summer sale. But altogether, it seems more likely that they'll run into the same problems currently facing Google Plus: Convincing consumers to switch to a service that offers seemingly identical functionality to what they already have.
But then, people said the same thing about moving away from MySpace when Facebook came along so long ago...
