High street retailer GAME has launched an online rental service.

GAME Rentals, which is being offered in conjunction with SwapGame, will work in the same way as web-based film rental service Lovefilm. Users will be able to subscribe to the service for a monthly fee and rent any two games at the same time for as long as they like.

The games, which are available in a number of different formats including Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, can then be posted back to the retailer. Once the games have been returned, subscribers will then be sent two new titles from their online list.

"GAME Rentals will allow customers to rent games for a small subscription each month. Two games can be rented at a time, and when customers post one back to us, another will be sent out to them. It is a great way to help customers try games out before they buy," GAME's online business managing director Alex Croft told MCV.
