The first PlayStation 3 consoles sold at HMV's launch in the UK will cost £675 - almost £250 more than the console itself. Gamers in the UK were already angry at the UK price for Sony's new console. The PS3 costs the equivalent of £300 in the US. In Japan its price equates to £250.

Sophos has released its top ten chart of malware threats and email hoaxes. Dorf malware was the worst offender accounting for almost 50 percent of all malware seen during January, with Netsky coming in second place with 16.1% and Mytob in third with 9.8%.

Sales of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) in Japan dropped further in the week to 21 January as the games market there suffered from lacklustre demand, according to data published today. The PS3, which is due to launch in the UK on 23 March, suffered its worst week of sales since launch for the second week in a row.
