SoulCalibur IV coming to PS3 & Xbox

1Up launches latest in SoulCalibur series

1Up has announced that SoulCalibur IV will be released by Namco Bandai Games on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Xbox 360 sometime next year. This will be the latest installment in the legendary fighting game franchise that features weapon-wielding, armour-clad combatants duking it out against various backdrops based on history and fantasy.

Details are very scarce at the moment, and more will certainly be revealed at a later date. But for now, it looks like it can be confirmed that samurai warrior Mitsurugi, sword/whip slinging femme fatale Ivy, and the demonic beast Nightmare will all be making a welcome return visit. New characters, of course, will also be making their debuts.

The company has pointed out that this title is a separate entry from the SoulCalibur Legends game, which is a third person action adventure spin-off of the main series. That title will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii at some point next year.
