Microsoft yesterday launched it's latest retread of the Xbox 360 games console. The Xbox 360 Elite has a mammoth 120GB hard drive, and HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) connector for HD TV playback. This positions the Xbox closer to Sony's PlayStation 3, although that console is more expensive.
Available in the US for a recommended retail price of $480, the Xbox 360 Elite is not yet officially available in the UK, although some offshore websites are shipping it to UK customers. In anticipation of demand in the US, many retailers are charging a premium.
Our first impressions of this new iteration of Microsoft's two-year-old game console are generally positive - particularly with regard to the dramatically improved integration of the optional Xbox HD DVD Player, and the improved image quality offered by HDMI (the differences are there, albeit not as striking as one might expect).
